If you want to have success in the coming times, you must bet on something that is already on the lips of many: the knowledge economy .
What is it about?
The economy that provides you with income, industry power and freedom.
Sector of the economy that is not subject to crises or economic cycles, which is not subject to the power of elites or economic minorities. On the contrary, and it is more: the economy that allows you to influence them if your knowledge is greater sector.
There is only one good: knowledge. There is only one evil, ignorance. Socrates.

What exactly is the knowledge economy?
We can define it as that sector of the economy that uses the knowledge or information to create value, deliver results, improvements, utilities, and thus positively affect the lives of people, bringing them to a higher level.
It could be argued that this has been so much life and so effectively: knowledge has always been the engine of change and evolution in all societies. What justifies the talk today with more intensity of this phenomenon, this type of economy are two questions:
- On the one hand, the fact that prior knowledge was minor and not essential (if you were a chump, you could always tilling the soil), while today is greater and absolutely essential (if you want to have employment and / or income , of course).
- Furthermore, the fact that the rate of production of knowledge is greater than ever (exponential growth). No time to take it all and a task of search and selection is imposed.

But what is knowledge?
It is the information, the data set we have about certain matters and duly ordered, allow us to affect our environment: create products, provide utilities, improving existing, and in turn produce more knowledge to continue to innovate.
Is it the same as wisdom? For me, knowledge is the prelude of wisdom, and are NOT synonymous concepts. You can tell a lot, such as an encyclopedia or a parrot, and have no wisdom, be nothing wise.
Why have knowledge, in my opinion, it is the previous step to wisdom. And be wise, for me, it is the state that occurs when yours do internalize and knowledge and allow you to shoot as true assimilated. That state, indubitable and accurate, is the one that allows you to create and be powerful and free .
What are the consequences of a knowledge economy?
The main thing is that a society that is committed to this type of development must invest in human capital, human talent , training, innovation and learning. Knowledge is the gateway to everything and today more than ever.
But it has not happened throughout history.
If we look back and wonder what you can offer to work , or what is most valued when determining the ability or aptitude for work , we find different answers over time:
- In the beginning, agricultural societies, brute force is valued.
- Subsequently, in industrial societies, discipline and methodology: orderly, obedient, methodical, mechanical, a little sheep be, and I understand

- Using existing knowledge (or you have one) to produce more knowledge. Examples: innovate, invent, innovation and development. It is said that the most developed societies are those that invest most in R & D. That can give you the idea because knowledge (and wisdom) are always needed to build ever more prosperous societies and lead the people to the next evolutionary level. Closely related to the knowledge economy is a concept that has begun to emerge in recent times: the orange economy .
This is the downstream sector of the economy of cultural activity, culture, ie creations that are intellectual property. One could say, therefore, that is also the sector companies and businesses that produce economic returns following the creations of authors and artists.
In this sense, all that is writing books for sale, paint pictures, perform musical or artistic productions, take pictures or fashionable designs, etc. fit within this concept when income derived or produced.
In short, the idea is you work with culture, goods that grant intellectual property rights occur, and economic benefits generated thereby. In this way the knowledge is applied in doing creative things (culture) and constitute sources of income with them.
